Science Friday has a podcast up on nanotechnology. Nanotech is often used in the media as a sort of science-fiction deus ex machina, so it’s good to hear a more scientific take (via Cornell).

Charles Stross on why we aren’t likely to colonize space. It’s depressing, but I suspect he’s correct (via Boing Boing).
Graduation
Graduated last Saturday. Not quite sure what else to say. I had an excellent time at Carleton and I’m going to miss it terribly, but I hope that Cornell will be just as wonderful.

A profile of Google’s search quality group from the NYT. There’s still not much technical detail, but then Google has become almost as secretive as Apple lately.

Interesting New York Times magazine issue on ecologically friendly architecture. I particularly like the profile of architect Shigeru Ban and the piece on what Al Gore’s been up to lately
